Your host, the Norwegian Citroën SM Club
The main purpose of the Citroën SM Club Norway is to secure a joint community for the Norwegian SM owners, to have good relationship and try to extend the cooperation between the International Citroën SM Clubs.
Club president, john ståle rist gives you the facts about our club
Only four (4) SM cars were sold new in Norway throughout the production years, but a few were imported throughout the years prior to the year 2000. As the Norwegian import regulations significantly reduced some heavy taxes on 30-year-old cars, an import boom of SMs started in the early 2000. The rising number of SM cars and inexperienced owners made it clear that there was a need and potential for the owners to unite.
“The club has 35 members in 2019 and we are expecting the same level in 2020, but with approximately 45 Citroën SM Cars in Norway ”
Citroën SM Club Norway was established 5. June 2004 to organize the Norwegian owners of Citroën SMs, promote the car in Norway and secure benefits for the members. The funding of the Citroën SM Club Norway was based on the Norwegian Citroën SM Register (NCSMR) originated from 2 July 2003.
The main purpose of the Citroën SM Club Norway is to secure a joint community for the Norwegian SM owners, to have good relationship and try to extend the cooperation between the International Citroën SM Clubs. We strive to secure collaboration between the members in Citroën SM Club Norway and act as a distributor of relevant information across the members and from the International Citroën SM community.
Nevertheless, the club is small, and after some years making an independent club magazine (SM Bulletin), we joined the national Citroën clubs magazine; “Citrophile”. The club has 35 members in 2019 and we are expecting the same level in 2020, but with approx. 45 Citroën SM Cars in Norway distributed among approx 40 owners we do cover a high percentage of the total amount of SM owners in Norway.
Internationally Citroën SM Club Norway are a member of the FICCSM. It is important for Citroën SM Club Norway to have a good collaboration with the International Citroën SM community to share common challenges and secure access to spare parts for our members. Citroën SM Club Norway seeks membership and collaboration with national partners to secure optimal insurance agreements for our members.
The club organizes one major event per year, sometimes jointly with other Citroën clubs, sometimes alone. These meetings bring the members around the Southern part of Norway together, visiting some very interesting places, and some scenic areas and roads. The club was founded at the meeting in Geiranger in 2004, and it is a pleasure for me as the president, to get the chance to show you this spectacular part of Norway – the birthplace for the CSMKN!
